People ask me all the time, Christian, how can I think more positive?
For most people it’s like they have these negative thought and they cannot manage to simply get rid of them.
What I found is that people who struggle to get their head and mind right, they are mostly struggling to use their mind in a more capable way.
I’m pretty sure most of you know how our brain generates our thoughts.
But even though, let’s talk about it.
To help you overcome this pattern of negative thinking, let me share with you a very simple strategy you can implement right after this video to start mastering your mind.
So basically we produce thoughts, positive and negative thoughts in 2 different ways.
First way is through our subconscious mind. When you experience any kind of thought that’s coming up all of a sudden…
…that’s typically when you subconscious mind sends them to your conscious mind.
These kind of negative or positive thoughts come up when you experience either something positive or negative.
Something that’s similar to a positive or negative experience from your past.
The good news is that both of our systems always try to protect us.
But the problem is that our negative thoughts actually don’t help us.
What your subconscious mind is actually saying is:”That’s the easiest route I know about.”
What we need to do is to start take full control over our second system, our conscious mind.
You cannot control the thoughts that come up through your subconscious mind, but you can control what you think and how you behave.
The truth is that most of our lives, we run on autopilot.
But what I found through studying successful people for more than 4 decades is that they do and handle things a little bit different.
Because instead of letting them controlled by their subconscious mind thoughts, they’ve decided to take full control over their conscious mind.
They commanded themselves to discipline their conscious mind.
One way to turn these automatic negative thoughts into positive and more productive, stronger thoughts, that ultimately lead us to better decisions, get healthier, happier and overall more successful…
…is by using one simple strategy.
And that strategy is based on 3 pillars.
Pillar 1 is not to give those negative thoughts much more attention than any other thought.
There is a saying from Tony Robbins:”Where focus goes, energy flows.”
What that means is that if you give your negative thoughts too much focus, you’ll start to feed your subconscious mind with more energy to keep producing these negative thoughts.
Now what happens is that you’ll start experiencing more and more negative thoughts.
Your subconscious mind does not understand that these thoughts actually hurt you, all it understands is that you put your focus on them, and your energy too, so it goes to work to send you more fo these thoughts.
It’s actually a rate race.
But you can also use that same system to your advantage to send you more and more positive thoughts.
They we do this is by asking ourselves more positive questions, and by painting more positive pictures in our mind.
For many years I used to focus too much on these negative thoughts too. I’ve tried all sorts of strategies and methods to make a change, but none of them seemed to work for me.
Until I learned about changing my inner picture about me and how my life should be.
What this did was also that over time I started to expect that the outcome will be more positive.
And eventually it turns out to happen like expected before in my inner picture.
Start asking your:”What am I thinking right now? Do my current thoughts support me to achieve my goal?”
“Do they try to protect me, do I think negative about the outcome I expect?”
The sole purpose of this first step is to increase your awareness in the sense what thoughts do you have.
What I want you to do is, whenever you have a short moment, a few minutes per day, ask yourself what are my thoughts right now.
Do they support me or do they sabotage me? Do they try to stop me to thrive?
You can only control your conscious mind & your thoughts in life if you fully become aware of what you think during the day.
Because that awareness gives you the power to interrupt that negative, automatic thinking.
If we gain no awareness about what we think all day long, our life is full of feeling anxious.
Shift your focus towards painting a positive picture of you achieving whatever you want to achieve.
And when you focus on that positive picture, that positive outcome, you don’t have to close your eyes to visualize it.
You can also try to see that picture with open eyes.
For some people it’s hard to visualize with closed eyes.
Now when you visualize your new positive outcome, try to see yourself in that new picture with a big fat smiling in your face.
A good exercise to train your mind focusing more and more on positive things is to ask yourself 4 simple questions during the day:
-How can I feel better right now?
-How can I have more fun now?
-What can I be grateful for right now?
-What’s the biggest thing I’ve achieved in my life?
Ask these questions in the morning, in the evening and as often as possible during the day.
Do this for 30 days and watch how your thinking will shift from negative to more and more positive.
The second thing I want you to do is determine 3 words that describe your ideal self.
My 3 words are “Driven, Passionate and Difference”.
I am a driven person that’s passionate and who makes a difference in people’s lives.
I’ve set up a notification with the 4 questions + the 3 words that pop up on my iphone screen 5-6 times a day.
When I see them I instantly shift my thinking towards more and more being positive.
Ask yourself these 4 questions and recall the 3 words that describe your ideal self for 30 days and watch how your life will change.
